MemorizeTheBibleWithMe.comPray To Know God’s Will

Is this a crazy thing to do?  Is this how I should pray?

In Episode 019 – Pray About Everything, we memorized Philippians 4:6-7 and those two verses really made me think:  What should I pray for?

Well I found an example from Paul in his letter to the Colossians.

There was a group of people in Colosse who had been introduced to the teachings of Jesus by one of Paul’s converts:  Epaphras.

Paul was so thrilled when he learned about this that he prayed for them and even wrote down what he prayed for!

So what does an Apostle pray about when he learns there’s a group of believers he has never met?

In this case he prayed that God would “…fill you with the knowledge of his will…”  Col. 1:9

And know what?

Paul’s prayer makes sense because we learn in the Bible that:

“… if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”   1 John 5:14a

No wonder Paul prayed so intently for them to know the will of God.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through spiritual wisdom and understanding.

And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way:  bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.

Colossians 1:9-10

Want to pray unselfish prayers?

Pray first to be filled with the Knowledge of God’s Will.  When you move in the same direction God is going, you’ll find freedom.

Thank you again for joining me this week.

Do you know a scripture that says:  “This is God’s Will”?
