023 Memorize The Bible With Me – The Word of God is Living and Active – Hebrews 4:12-13

MemorizeTheBibleWithMe.comDoes the Bible have any impact in our lives?

Well it can but it takes exposure to what it says.  That’s one of the main reasons for this Podcast – so that each of us can take what the Bible says, focus on it, and commit it to memory for later recall.  This let’s God use his word to change our lives.

The writer of Hebrews knew the answer to this question.

He described God’s Word as being Living and Active, in fact, that’s the title for this week’s Bible Memory Verse.

The Word of God is Living and Active.

For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword,
it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.
Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:12-13

What’s “Soul” and “Spirit”?

  • Spirit – Our life in relationship to God.  The spiritual side of who we are.
  • Soul – Our inner life in relation to ourselves – our emotions, thoughts, desires and personal choices.

God’s Word exposes where our “soulish-ness” conflicts with God’s presence in us.  Then, when we submit to this “surgery” and align our soul to our spirit through God’s Word, we find rest.  (Hebrews 4:8-11)

Thank you again for joining me this week.

Helping me to know that I am a child of God first and formost. Secondly, it helps me to know and understand that all of answers are in the Word of God. I spend many of years, looking to others, now I look to God right within His Word.

Hi Vivian. Thanks for taking the time to share your insight. You are so right, regular contact with the Word of God is a constant reminder that we are His children: adopted into His family. The more we know it, the more we find our answers there. – Dan
